Company Roots
In 2005, members of our Board entertained the possibility of providing a temperature controlled environment for racers. After creating dozens of prototypical personal cooling solutions, it was decided to trial the first system in an endurance automobile race. Twenty-Five hours after the start of a race held annually at ThunderHill in Northern California, the Board members had their affirmation and a new age in advanced driver cooling solutions began.... Fast forward to 2010 and 986, Inc. has grown into a leader in racing driver cooling systems offering ice and thermoelectric options coupled with the most advanced personal cooling garment ever created.
Technology & Emerging Trends
Technology is propelling our growth and a three-pronged strategy driving our product road map improves our success; making significant advances in personal cooling available to many different industries. 986 is position to offer products taking advantage of advanced solar and battery cell capacity, miniaturization of Peltier-effect technology, and is currently partnered with vendors in the refrigeration industry to begin porting their technologies to new applications.
